I'm pretty sure it's crochet, but it's done with multiple strands and a big fat stitch which makes it thicker and heavier than normal crochet (or at least, most of the crocheted stuff I've seen). Ask irishredlass over on her LJ, she can tell you more. And if you want one, she'll take your order ;)
