Something is wrong with the world...

The Western black rhino was declared extinct today, and the top story on Yahoo News was Suri Cruise's new haircut.

[Edit: The link above was to an old news item, sorry, and now I can't find the correct one. Curse you, interwebz! However, in trying to find it, I did learn that they've found footprints of the Sumatran rhino someplace where they thought it was extinct, so the news isn't all bad. Still...]

Humanity, I weep for you. And yes, that's a poem, so it counts as one of my 100 Things. *sigh*

Not to take away from the severity of the problem, but, "today"? The date on the article is about a year and a half ago...

AAAAAAARGH.

Funnily enough, I find myself wanting to blast them as much for both aspects of this: not only for the 'celebs>extinction which people have been warning about for decades' mentality, but also, I mean, ffs, she's just a kid, why are they running news stories about her? Last I checked, her parents chose their professions, she didn't get to choose her parents or their high profile profession.

So called celebrity news is not news. It's advertisement for people in their attempt for fame. Best to ignore it. I wish I could turn it off the news feed but yahoo will not allow me to get rid of "entertainment news" aka advertisement for the music, TV, and movie industries.

The black rhino news is apparently old. Humans will cut off their nose to spite their face. Once solution is a bounty on poachers that pays twice as much as the animal goods they poach.
