I love musicians who make instruments do new things, not in a twisted distorted smash-the-guitars way but in a push-it-to-the-max way. I know what you mean, that reminds me of a high school friend of my son's. He was one of three co-validictorians (all tied for the honor) and instead of giving a speech Jake played his tuba. If you think all a tuba can do is go oompa, oompa, oompapa, then you should have heard this kid play. He went on to be a music major at the University of Michigan and now lives in Germany where he makes his living doing what he loves.
