I read a pretty great defense of this Cinderella from a domestic violence perspective, namely that Cinderella is an abuse victim and that it shows how "have courage and be kind" is pretty much how she keeps from repeating the cycle of abuse and becoming like her abusers. If you look at her from that perspective, it makes the anti-feminist complaints look downright mean-spirited.
