teddyradiator tagged me with this meme, for which I thank her most sincerely since it's gotten me to sit down and do an LJ entry after far too long.


Favorite Character: Snape. Tortured, complex, brilliant...Isn't he everyone's favorite character?

Which house? Ravenclaw. I am a swot of the first order, and I adore knowledge for its own sake.

Patronus? Definitely a cat of some sort. I like comfort, warm places, and being skritched under my chin.

Favourite class? Despite Binns being portrayed as the most boring teacher on the planet, I think I'd like History of Magic. My undergrad degree was in history and I still read a lot of it for pleasure; I'm fascinated by how the past shapes the present. Also Transfiguration, because I think Minerva would be a fantastic teacher.

Would you make to the Quidditch team? I cannot express how much not. I would however be happy to be in the audience with a nice hip flask of Firewhisky.

If you do, which position? Drinker. Is that a position? Or does it just lead to other positions?

Favourite teacher? Minerva. Though I wish we knew more about Professor Sinistra; I suspect I would like her too.

First or second Dumbledore? First. I wish he'd lived long enough for all eight movies.

Least favourite character? Percy Weasley is a prat, but he comes around in the end. So I would have to say Cornelius Fudge. He's an utter dolt. Though I do like the bit at the beginning of Deathly Hallows when the Muggle Prime Minister recognizes a failed politician and feels sorry for him.

Most useful spell? Expelliarmus, so I can defend myself against Muggles as well as magic folk


Have you ever written in an unusual place? Yes -- last year I was VERY behind on a fest fic and desperate to make progress, so I was scribbling in my notebook at a bar while everyone around me was drinking and singing Irish songs lol

The word/phrase you know you overuse, but can’t get rid of? Great question. If anyone spots it, let me know!

Do you keep notes? Do you have a notebook? Oh god yes. I'm like Harriet the Spy, I can't function without something to write on/in. I've kept a journal since I was eleven.

What’s the hardest part of a fic to write for you? The boring connecty bits. I'm pretty good at getting the major scenes down, but writing the bits that string them together makes me tired.

Have you ever based something in your fic on your personal experience? Yes, here and there. A line of dialog, a bit of emotion, a character's physical feature.

What’s that one fic you want to write but somehow know you never will? No idea on this one. I don't have a backlog of fic ideas (though I do have a backlog of original story ideas). I generally don't get ideas for fics unless I'm participating in a fest, in which case the ideas are handed to me on a plate.

What do you usually do when you procrastinate? Read. Play around on the computer. Recently it's been Doge 2084 (which anna_bird got me hooked on, evil thing that she is).

What’s the funniest typo you’ve made? I consistently type "Jopseh" instead of "Joseph" which always makes me snicker. The funniest typo I've ever seen, however, was in an email to me from a guy I'd been out with once: he was "hopping to see me again." I got the email at work and the mental image it conjured sent me into a fit of the giggles so uncontrollable that my colleagues in the next cubicle over became concerned.

Do you listen to music when you write? Not usually. Then again, when I start writing, the outside world pretty much vanishes, so John Philip Souza could be having a field day and I wouldn't notice.

Your favorite comment a reader has left on your fic? Any time they say, "This is now my head canon." When that happens, I know I've hit the mark.
