Ah, but we all have very different understandings about what those freedoms mean. To certain groups, Trump included, "freedom of speech" doesn't mean the freedom to say things that they themselves might disagree with or find offensive (witness Trump's renewed call for imprisonment of flag-burners). Anything they disagree with is by definition dangerous propaganda and needs to be stopped -- for the safety of the country. And "freedom of religion" doesn't mean freedom for all religions, or freedom to have no religion. It means "protecting Christians," because this is a Christian country, and it's what God wants.

To a lot of people, this logic is obvious and impeccable, and they are baffled that WE can't see it.
