Er... far away? Middle America? Hot? Cacti? Mariachi? Weird festivals with skulls all over? Inka? Maya? (Were both people in Mexico at all?) Nice food? Er, water shortage due to wasting it on rich people“s gardens?
I am afraid that sums it pretty much up. I am woefully ignorant about South and Middle America.
I guess it was just one foreign language too many to make the connection, LOL.
We hardly ever come across the Spanish language here. I can sort of guess at things because I know French and some Italian but the play on sink/cinco was beyond me. I would have understood the date when written down as a date but for the puzzle one needs to be able to count to five in Spanish, I guess and my abilty stops at three :)
I thought you had made that up! Heeee! If only I were that clever :) Nope, it's real day, but probably not that well-known in Europe, like most people here have probably never heard of Bastille Day or Walpurgisnacht. I first encountered Cinco de Mayo when I went to college in Texas (far too many years ago), but with the growth of the Latino population in the U.S., it's fast becoming a more mainstream holiday.

I just read 'Happy cinco de mayo' in an A/N and finally googled it.
I thought you had made that up! After seeing your sink and the mayonnaise or something.
Mexican national day. I will never forget that.
