Ah, yours is one of the lists that overlaps strongly with my own book loves: Island of the Blue Dolphins, Alas, Babylon, The Godfather (I found this on my mom's bookshelf when I was ten and wanted to read it but she took it away from me lol), Shogun, and OH YES The Stand!!! I'm actually working on a paper about The Stand for a conference next summer :)
