So, the book meme! It's been such fun to read everyone's lists -- some of them overlap considerably with mine, while others consist mostly of books I've never heard of. It amazes me what readers you all are, and it's such an education to be exposed to new and different authors. I do love books. Books books books. We might have had a contractor in two weeks ago to talk about putting built-in bookshelves in my room (and maybe if there's room, a window-seat under the window for Drinking Tea and Reading In/On. anemonen tagged me with it, so here we go!

Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Ah, yours is one of the lists that overlaps strongly with my own book loves: Island of the Blue Dolphins, Alas, Babylon, The Godfather (I found this on my mom's bookshelf when I was ten and wanted to read it but she took it away from me lol), Shogun, and OH YES The Stand!!! I'm actually working on a paper about The Stand for a conference next summer :)

I am have not read many of Stephen King's books, but I revere him as a writer. I just finished the Dark Tower Series again. The first time I read it, I despised it. This time, I was enthralled by it. I don't know of another writer who brings me to my knees like King. His ability to turn a phrase is second to none.

I've not been tagged but I like the topic I'll add it to my blog today, thanks! And don't worry counting the Lord of the Rings as 1 book-the way Tolkien wrote I'm sure he'd have wanted it as one huge book like Bilbo wrote himself in a nice hard cover. :) Thanks and take care!

He did, actually -- his publisher said nobody would buy a book that big. Ha, shows what HE knew! So this whole trilogy trend in fantasy can all be blamed on Donald Unwin :)

In addition to Tolkien, Fionavar also influenced me immensely. And the Earthsea novels.
