Did he cry?? If so, that does seem a bit much. A little side-eye and some "Wot, really?" would probably have sufficed.

Still, he must have known he'd have international eyes on him, and when there's been so much discussion lately about women in STEM and "brogrammers" and so on, it does seem a bit of egregious nitwittery.
