Went to the Symphony Saturday night -- great program, all Mozart, all the time.  Leon Fleischer was guest conductor as well as guest pianist; he seems to be fully recovered from his 20+ years of not playing due to dystonia.  Excellent show.  He has an amusingly minimalist approach to conducting (mostly just waggled his fingers) but the orchestra seemed not to be thrown by it.  And by the end of the show I had a short story idea that's been percolating all worked out -- and mostly written -- in my head.  Came home, sat down with a pad of paper and got it down on 12 pages; quite pleased with it, though I need to hunt up some information on medieval Spanish churches to finish off a few details.   So maybe all that stuff about Mozart making you smarter is true?

Oh yeah -- and it's my birthday.  Thanks to the nurse for the virtual pint !!
