delphipsmith: (seriously pissed)

Oh goody, because my head hasn't exploded yet today

Arizona has passed a bill stating that life begins two weeks before conception.

::iz speechless::

Presumably that means everyone in Arizona will soon be singing this.

Also passed: a law protecting doctors from being sued if they withhold information that might lead a woman to get an abortion. Now, I'm fairly certain that's malpractice and violates every medical code of ethics since Hippocrates. I can't wait to hear what the AMA has to say about it. Ideally they will vow to yank the license of any so-called physician who perpetrates this obscenity on a patient.

Gaaaaaaaaahh. And the GOP says there's no war on women. Uh-huh. Pull this one and it plays Jingle Bells. Becoming a rabid feminazi is becoming a more and more attractive option every day that insanity like this sees the light of day.

So a doctor could legally tell a woman she's not pregnant if (s)he suspects the woman might get an abortion. *sings* Let the heathens spill theirs on the dusty ground...

Obama is leading in the polls thanks largely to the female vote... what a shock. I swear, all he has to do is let them keep hanging themselves with this piece of rope. Even female Fox News commentators are amazed by how clueless their male counterparts are.

From this side of the Pond we are watching aghast.

If life begins before sperm meets egg, does this not redefine both menstruation and male masturbation as abortion?

So generous amounts of maternity leave will surely be forthcoming, perhaps salary increases so that women can support their children, a nice strong healthcare system so that the baby who was born with complications can get the help it needs....

Oh, no? Yeah, the Republican philosophy of protecting the fetus, then throwing the person under the bus is in full effect.

Malpractice, absolutely. A number of physicians are speaking out on it, and a few are calling for physician non-compliance, especially with the punitive pre-abortion ultrasound laws.

The law provides no protection from action against a physician's license. The AZ Medical Board should (but won't) come out and say that any complaint filed by a patient pursuant to a physician withholding information will be investigated the same as any allegation of serious malpractice. IANAL, but I expect there to be cases of this nature. If I were a woman seeking abortion, and a provider attempted to perform a medically unnecessary u/s, or withheld information from me, you bet I'd be making a complaint to the state medical board.

I hope the GOP War on Women(tm) comes back to bite them. I suspect a lot of women who were not especially politically active are now waking up to smell the witch-burning.

Wish both the gop and dems would stay they hell out of the bedrooms and limiting my (or anyone's) choices. Can we also start with H. Waxman please? We just do not see how other liberties are eroded as well because they dont get the same level of publicity as sex issues. It's coming from all sides.

Frankly I think alot of these social issues are distractions from bigger issues and gives elected officials some form of "accomplishment", but their efforts solves nothing. I am sick of empty legislation that solves nothing. This shitty AZ law..its solves nothing. If goal is reduce abortion, then up birth control awareness and teach self responsibility. Enact laws that put a just a tiny bit more repsonsibility on the male side, as I am all for "default to the father" laws. Mom may have the baby, but lets try a social experiment of dumping the baby on the men for a change. Wanna see unwanted pregnacies stop? I bet that might put a dent in them.

Also, as another commentor stated, if life begins as a twinkle in someones eye, or drunken or drug induced grope, then that would imply every sperm in a man is a life.

Is every drug addicted person who creates a barely viable baby committing assult? Committing a violation of the unborn's civil rights? Is it child abuse? What a mess, what boon for lawyers.

I wish the govt would enforcing existing laws instead of inventing uneforcable overlays of the the same thing, and also try and get the economy going and level the job playing field vs outsourcing. They should be balancing the budget, managing the value on the dollar, and following due process, and being transparent with the money and the process. they should bring the troops home, because frankly there is no effing reason to be there.

You cannot legislate virtue. Sadly, we cannot legislate common sense.

Too bad there is NO leader who will prioritize the big rocks, and insead we get everyone nit picking sand grains.

Yeah we got fundi christians on the abortion racket, meanwhile, you have creeping Sharia. Pick yer poison, the relgions are coming at you from both sides. But I suppose honor killings sort of solve the abortion issue, doesn't it. The Dems are supporting the latter and the GOP the former. SO women get screwed from both sides.

end of sarcastic, angry, rant on the hipocracy of PCism, politicans and what not.
