Saw Snow White and the Huntsman this weekend. Visually stunning, excellent black feather cloak (WANT), pretty horsies (WANT), pleasing Thor eye candy (WANT), and the dwarves were quite funny. Otherwise -- dialog, script, acting, character development, plot, etc. -- all meh.

Yeah. Not bad, just definitely not worth prime-time prices. Not much is these days, for me. We paid full price to see Prometheus and that was the first time in probably 4-5 years we hadn't been to a matinee.

The thing about it that threw me the most, for some reason, was when she started reciting the Lord's Prayer in the tower. Ummmmm, what? This appears to be no kingdom on Earth, my friends. How'd they get a copy of the Christian Bible?

It wasn't bad; there were lots of great little details, but the bigger story arc just fell sort of flat for me. You never really get to know William at all, so his 10+ years of devotion to her don't feel real. The dialog was forgettable, apart from Snow's speech rallying the troops at the end (and the dwarf's line about poo LOL!). The injection of the pagan element -- the forest, the stag (which were excellent visually) -- conflicted badly with her recitation of the Lord's Prayer near the beginning. Snow White spends most of her life in solitary confinement and most of the movie running running running from people trying to kill her, yet she gets one lesson in how to fight with a knife, and suddenly she's able to ride a horse, wear armor, wield a sword and stab the queen. I know it's a fairy tale, but still...

Yeah...I'm curious but don't want to pay that much considering the actress. So..renting.
