"There is so much that is matchless to remember about Alan Rickman. ..." ==> Ian McKellen's tribute to Alan

The New Yorker special cartoon tribute

"...His sensational breakthrough came in 1986 as Valmont, the mordant seducer in Christopher Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses. He was nominated for a Tony for the part; Lindsay Duncan memorably said of her co-star’s sonorous performance that audiences would leave the theatre wanting to have sex “and preferably with Alan Rickman”. ==> The Guardian

I would have killed to see him as Valmont. Just imagine!

I would have loved to have seen him as Valmont! Sadly, I was too young and he wasn't even on my radar then. However, I was lucky enough to see him live 3x. First, I saw him during a director's talk for the play, The Creditors, which he directed (and which co-starred his god-son, I found out later). Second I saw him as the star of the Ibsen play John Gabriel Borkman with Lindsay Duncan who was in Les Liaisons with him. Finally, I saw him in Seminar. I enjoyed myself immensely each time. After Seminar I got his autograph. I NEVER get autographs. I despise doing it. He is one of only 2 for whom I've made that exception. I'll post the video on my live journal. It's poor but it's mine and I'll treasure it.

Hugs to you and all his fans in a time to reflect why they were admired from afar for their fine work.
